“This is what the Sovereign Lord says: This is Jerusalem,

which I have set in the center of the nations, with countries all around her.

Greetings from the Holy Land. The Land flowing with milk and Honey, The land that makes the history of the Bible come alive! Greetings from the steps of King David’s palace, from Hezekiah’s tunnel, from Mary’s tomb. Greetings from the grounds where Jesus died and is now resurrected!

My team has gotten the wonderful privilege of staying with an Orthodox Jewish man, who lives right in the heart of Jerusalem. He has taught us all so much about the history of the bible and about our own living faith today. He has challenged us to dig deeper in The Word and to not live safely under the term “Christian”. He gives us weekly reading assignments from Genesis and then finds connections in the New Testament. These connections often shed new light to my readings in Genesis. It is so neat to live under this teaching while I am right in the heart of where it all happened!

We have been volunteering at the local soup kitchen here in Jerusalem. Here, in the lovely rooms of the kitchen, I have dubbed my fellow team mates and I as sirs and ladies of the round tables.

First, there is Lady Daina of the non-chopping your finger land. next Sir David of the peeling carrots, then Lady Daniela from the professional firing rabbi lands.
Here is Lady Katie of the land of the tears of onion lovers, and Lady Lauren of the radical Radish killers.
Sir Matthew of carrot dice a lot!
Yesterday, we went to the “Little town of Bethlehem”. We had our taxi driver’s as tour guides who took us to visit Shepherd’s field. This is where the Shepherds were gazing their sheep and saw the star. They also took us to the place where Jesus was born! It has been so special to be here during the time of Jesus birth.
