One 65 liter backpack. 11 months. I say, “Impossible.” Adventures in Missions says, “Possible.”

Never in my dizziest daydreams did I ever think I would be faced with this seemingly impossible task.

Pack almost a year’s worth of clothes in one backpack? You realize I’m female right? And then you want me to also pack all my shoes, toiletries, electronics, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and various other items into this same pack? And keep it around 40 pounds?

If I ever were to rethink this trip, it’s now.

I cannot tell you how many hours I have spent over-thinking and strategizing how I will pack for the World Race. And here’s the trip: I haven’t even attempted it yet. I’ve made my lists and sat and stared at my backpack, but I’m too terrified to actually try putting anything in it, and frankly, I don’t even know where to start.

The farthest I got was when I tried putting just my tent inside my pack to see how much room it will take up. Bad idea. Apparently my tent takes up the majority of the space. I immediately took my tent back out and replaced my backpack in the corner of my room where it sits and taunts me every day. “Well, that was a good try,” I reassured myself.

I have no clue how this is possible, but I know it can be done. I have four days until Training Camp, which I was hoping would be a test run for how I would pack for the Race, but I still don’t have the majority of the gear I need.

Unfortunately, costs for gear can really add up and are not included in the price for the World Race. So, if you or someone you know has any gear (in relatively good condition) you would be willing to donate, please contact me! I am still in need of the following:

  • Sleeping bag (that can pack down relatively small and is rated for at least 35 degrees)
  • Sleeping bag liner
  • Airporter (which is like a cover for my backpack so I can attach things to the outside of my pack and not have to worry about them getting snagged and coming off in the airport)
  • Packing cubes
  • Day pack
  • Okay, this is a long-shot, but I’m just going to throw it out there: a computer. I’ve been borrowing my mom’s for far too long now because mine crashed a while back. If you have an old computer still in pretty good condition that you might consider giving away, please let me know!
  • Advice! Even if I know WHAT to pack, I have no idea HOW to pack a backpack. If you’re a seasoned backpacker, let’s talk!

Blessings  to each of you. Thank you for your continued support. Over $6,000 raised! Praise God! I will keep you updated on my packing status and fill you in on all the details of Training Camp soon.
