Greetings and welcome to my blog!  I've never had a blog before, so I hope you'll be patient with its progress.

My name is Daniella, and I'm originally from Texas.  I love the Lone Star State and hope to return there following my big adventure on the World Race.  I went to college at Furman University in South Carolina where I studied psychology and Spanish.  I was given two opportunities to study abroad in Latin America, which confirmed my love of travel and adventure. For a couple of years after college, I worked in Austin, Texas with children who had severe neurological and  behavioral problems and then with Spanish-speaking families of children with disabilities.  I am currently finishing my master's degree in clinical mental health counseling at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.  I've been working with children in foster care and women in crisis pregnancy situations, and I hope to eventually pursue a career in Christian counseling serving women and children.

A few more things to know about me:

  • I love being outdoors more than anything else, but I hate being cold (I am a Texan, after all)
  • I love road trips and the American West and have traveled through it in my 1987 Winnebago.  Her name is Ethel, and she is quite a lady.
  • I love the '80s and think I was born just a few years too late
  • Dance parties are my favorite. I've noticed that incorporating at least one into each day greatly improves life satisfaction.
  • My biggest fear is public speaking
  • I'm always looking for an opportunity to wear a costume.
  • I have the most amazing family that I'm going to miss terribly for 11 months
  • The Lord has been immeasureably good to me and has been faithfully calling me to the World Race.  I'm finally ready to answer the call.

I hope that you will follow my progress on the Race and pray for this endeavor.  Thanks for reading!
