The Bible talks of only 2 princes:

the prince of this world,

whose father is the father of lies,

and the Prince of Peace,

whose father is Abba Father, the Father of Lights.

Only the Prince of Peace is heir to the Throne of Grace, Mercy, Truth, Justice, and Love.

We have been given the right to be called a child of the Living God

(John 1:12-13, Romans 8:12-17).

When we are adopted as children of God, we are not adopted on our own to be princes and princesses of the Kingdom of God.  Princes and princesses are the dreams of little boys and girls.  In those dreams, princes and princesses never have to work and they always get their way; in their dreams the kingdom is there to serve them.  But this is not the kind of kingdom we are in.  Scripture never calls us princes or princesses–that is an illegitimate inference we have concluded.

Rather, we are here to serve the kingdom of our God; God is not here to serve us.  We are here to serve, honor and glorify our King!

But how did we get into this kingdom?

If we are not in the kingdom of our God rightfully,

then we are not true citizens of the kingdom.

If God does not make us to be his children yet we say that we are,

then we are illegitimate children.

Only the Father can make us children,

and only the Son has rightful claim to the Throne.

But because the Son has fought for us,

because the Son has interceded to the Father on our behalf,

he has provided the way for us to also be sons.

When we come to the Father

through the work that Christ has done for us,

the Holy Spirit of God is birthed in us.

We become adopted into the Sonship of Christ.

Because Christ is the Son of God, we are all sons of God through the Sonship of Christ.

Likewise, Scripture paints the picture of us being the Bride of Christ.  We, as God’s people together, make up of the Bride of Christ.

(If men can be the bride, then women can also be sons.)
