Africa…It’s just a different place.

We left Nairobi on Monday night for our ministry.  We the had the pleasure of a 16 hour night bus ride into Mpeketoni, Kenya. This trip included a detour around a collapsed bridge, which no one seemed to have known about…yep, this is Africa.  We arrived sleepy and sore, but as soon as we were greeted by our contacts any feelings of frustrations or complaints immediately disappeared.  We have had the pleasure of ministering with Christ the King Church and it’s leader Bishop Maurice.  Bishop first off, might be the most impressive man of God I’ve ever met.  He probably deserves a blog all to himself.  Along with Him we get to serve along side some absolutely beautiful people. Let me introduce you to a just a few of the gang.

On any given day you can find us sharing the Gospel door-to-door, visiting and praying for people in the hospital, leading cell groups, a little bit of farming!  Visiting and sharing the word at local schools, preaching at churches, but mostly making relationships and encouraging people in their faith.  They have given us so much life by their love and welcoming spirits. Last night we had an African dance party and I honestly felt like I had tasted a little bit of Heaven right here on earth.  Different tribes, nations, and tongues all worshiping together.  What a beautiful thing.   Teammates are already preparing hearts for a difficult goodbye ;

Oh and btw…God is doing some serious work here.  God has healed a baby of malaria, a woman of shoulder problems, delivered a month overdo baby, taken care of a child with full body burns,  and gotten spinal surgery for a man who was beaten with rifles.  Thats not even mentioning the people we have met who have trusted in Christ as their Savior.  Or the transformation taking place in our own lives.  I’m telling you, Africa is just a little different.  More stories to come.  Stay tuned…

*Oh and very important!  This weekend we are doing 4 days of open air meetings in the town center and revival meetings afterwards at the church (yesterday was day one).  Pretty intense so we need your prayers!  We open up in the middle of town with worship, testimonies and preaching.  I’m preaching today and giving a testimony on Saturday.  Pray for the Spirit to come in power, to fill us up to overflowing, pray that He would speak to us, for hearts to be prepared and for the Word to cut to hearts and bring people to repentance.  So yeah pray pray pray!  Thanks so much!*
