We leave Byron Bay tomorrow morning.  I have the now typical World Race emotions of excitement for what’s ahead, but a touch of sadness leaving pieces of our hearts behind.  For my last blog post in Australia (I’ll do an Australian recap in a few days), I thought I’d leave you with a poem I wrote about Byron Bay.

I don’t think I had written a poem since my high school english class…but I was praying the other day and had this huge desire to write a poem about Bryon. I promise that has never happened before, so I thought it might be the Holy Spirit lol.  I mean why else would I want to write a poem??  So with the Holy Spirits leading, this is what we have.  Hope you all enjoy ; )

The poem explains the state of Byron.  There are two different types of people in this small community, all attempting to find life in something other than Christ. It leaves you with this manufactured and false sense of contentment.  The people have no idea there is anything better out there.  The can’t see the inside of their souls…

The Veiled Looking Glass

From the tips of the mountains,

From beyond the stars reach,

The Desolate One watches.

“I see death and destruction,

sorry and despair.”

The people come to fix, but

wounds deep beyond repair.

Others ignore the moans of their brothers.

Without regard they seek their own;

Cries falling on deaf ears.

“Give me money, give me fame,

Give me everything I want.”

Their demands know no shame.

The deep calls out for a savior.

“Who will come to rescue me?”

Silence ansers with a shudder.

“I am my God, and

I need no other.”

Defiantly declares the woeful brothers.

All the while, the One patiently waits,

as those He loves ignore their destiny and fate.

One day they will see.

One day they will find.

Life, Salvation, and Love

 are Mine.
