Fundraising Update: I have $4,826 remaining to raise to be sufficiently funded for the entire eleven months I will be gone. If you want to donate, simply click on the ‘Donate’ button on my blogsite, or mail a check written out to Adventures in Missions to P.O. Box 742570 Atlanta, GA 30374-2570 with my name in the memo. All donations are tax-deductible. I would like to thank everyone who has believed in me and supported my efforts to make this opportunity a reality. I simply could not have made progress without my supporters. While fundraising is not always pleasant, I have been able to hone the articulation of my faith and witness happiness and pleasant disbelief among the majority of reactions to my upcoming journey. Thank you again for putting your faith in me.

In other news, it has been so long since I originally signed up for the World Race (10 months) that it is a bit of a shock to finally be within spitting range. It is comparable to waiting in line for a roller coaster after a couple hours on a humid day in Georgia. I am finally in the shade of the awning from the coaster platform. I have begun the process of putting away my loose personal items (glasses, phone, wallet) to get the experience two hours of waiting and sweating provides. I am now in the seat awaiting the mechanical clicking which we all know will lead to the thrill of a lifetime.

I left for training camp four weeks ago and it seems the remaining time until launch has been passing at an accelerated rate (yes, just like coasters do). After meeting my squad, I am proud to know that they are comprised of individuals hungry for growing and spreading the love of the Lord. If there is anything I retained from training camp, it is the power of using God’s guidance to focus on being like Christ throughout all aspects of life.

I believe living a simpler life over the next year will reduce the common distractions an American life provides and put me in a position to live life to the fullest. Personally, I have to keep a watchful eye on my own behaviors because I know I am susceptible to a complacent state of mind. Ephesians 4:1 sums up the proper attitude of a Christ follower pretty well: “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” I do not believe everyone is called to do international missions, but I urge everyone to effectively utilize the gifts and resources they are given in order to live the life God has destined them to live.

Please pray over our squad as we depart. We will be partnering with an organization called Bibles for the World in northeast India for our first month.

Stay Classy,
Daniel
