So the time had come to leave India and
make our way to Nepal. I woke up at 6am like normal and packed my
stuff up. We had a two hour car ride to Hyderabad. We play around
in the city for a few hours since our flight to New Delhi was not
until 6:30am the next day which meant we are sleeping in the airport.
We arrived at the airport around 11pm and sat our stuff down in a
general area and began the countdown. We couldn’t start boarding
until 4:30am so we had some time to kill. Even though I had been up
since 6am I was not sleepy at all. Our squad had all of our packs
together in a giant pile and sat and watched over them with a few
other teammates while the majority of the squad slept on the floor.
We met another America and traded stories over a great game of Uno.
The time came for our flights and we all made it on the plane with
little hassle.

We arrived in New Delhi at 8am with no
real plans except to be at the train station at 7pm for our 9:30pm
train. Our team leaders talked to some of the travel agents at the
airport looking for a hotel that we could all keep our stuff at while
we wander around the city for the afternoon. I showed them our train
tickets (Myself and another squad mate are in charge of most of the
travel and lodging when we go country to country.) He told us that
the hotel was right next to the train station and would not be a
problem. We all got the the hotel which was right next to a train
station
and dropped off our stuff to venture out in the city.
Everyone had a great time and we grabbed our stuff and made it to the
train station that was next to our hotel. (I did get an hour of
sleep before we left for the train.) We got to the train station
around 7:30pm. We all thought that we had plenty of time until my
partner talked to someone at the stations about the tickets and found
out that we were at the wrong stations and needed to take a 30-40
minute taxi ride to the other station. (I am so glad that she asked
or else we would of missed our train. I guess you can’t trust travel
agents at the airport.) So each team hopped in a taxi with all of
their stuff and made a made dash to the other train station. It was
like a real life game of Mario Kart. Taxis and other vehicles were
flying all over the place. One minute your team would be in the lead
and the next your in last place. We all made it to the train station
at 8:45pm only to find out that our train leaves at 9pm. So we all
made a mad dash to the train and tossed our stuff on not really sure
where our seats were. After a few hours everyone was settled in the
tiny compartments and ready for some rest. (I went to bed around 2am
only to wake up every hour with cramps in my calves until I just
stayed awake at 6am.) We arrived at our destination at 11:30am which
was a few hours from the border of Nepal.

Our next mode of transportation was our
own charter bus. I would like to say more positive things but the
only thing that comes to mind is that we were the only group on the
bus. It took us about two to three hours to make it to the border
and only about an hour and a half to cross over. Most of our journey
took place at night which might have been a blessing to most since it
seemed like we were turning all the time going up and down hills and
mountains. It was by far the worst bus ride ever. If you some how
found a comfortable way to sleep the bus would throw you from it in a
matter of seconds. This went on for 15 hours. We arrived in
Kathmandu around 4:30am only to put on our packs and walk a half a
mile to our hostel size our bus was to big to go down the streets.

So almost every form of transportation
possible on less then 5 hours of sleep I made it to Kathmandu, Nepal.
I really enjoy the beds here.
