A Glimpse of Tanzania

The stunning scenery on the way to Mbeya.

Pastor Adam and family
This month we have been living with Pastor Adam his wife Mary and 2 children Ruth and Dorkas. They minister in an assemblies of God church in mbeya, Tanzania. They are one of the kindest families we have met, they have constantly served us and shown us nothing but Love!

Exposure Girls
This month was a little different not only because we were n Africa but because we got 2 new team mates brought in to join us for 1 month of our race. This is called an exposure team. They get to come and stay with us for a month and live like a world racer. They join our team and participate in everything we do to give them not only a mission trip to Africa but a taste of the world race!  Abigail and Morgan joined us and they were like the perfect puzzle piece to our team. They fitted in with us and constantly poured into our team and brought so much laughter, joy, wisdom, friendship and truth! It is a great honor to know them and I will truly miss them now that they have gone back to the states! I hope and pray we meet again one day in the near future!

Preach Preach!
This month we have been preaching. This was something I have been dreading and hoping that I wouldn’t have to do but we were told that everyone is preaching! We had to preach a 40 minute sermon. This was a challenging month because preaching is not a strong gift of mine!  But as always God shown up for us all and gave us amazing words to share for the church. This was yet again an awesome month of conquering something a lot of us feared!

Children’s Crusade
One of our weeks in Mbeya we were doing a children’s crusade. This was an excellent time of us showing the Kids love! We performed kid’s songs and dramas and also preached. After some sermons people got saved and also came up for healing. This was a fun week. The kids loved spending time with us!

Squatty potties and Bucket Showers

Haha this was our first month of living with a squatty potty – we had encountered them on the race before but we had one for a full month. At first this was a challenge and change for us all but now we are pros lol . We also had bucket showers over the squatty potty or a tap that shot out freezing cold water. Showering has now became something that you no longer enjoy having but something that you just need to do when you begin to smell haha.

New Shoes!
One of my most favorite moments of this month and of the race is when we were able to bless the kids with new shoes. Most of the kids that we encountered did not have shoes or had shoes that were in terrible condition! We went out and traced the kids feet for size and then went out to buy them trainers and school shoes. This was an awesome moment and seeing the joy on the children’s faces was priceless 🙂

Life in Africa
Life in Africa is completely different to everywhere we have been. The culture is different, the people are different and the country is different. Africa is such a beautiful country. The scenery is breath taking. The people are full of Joy yet they have nothing- is it because they don’t know what it’s like to live in a selfish society where people always want want want? The kids wear the same dirty clothes everyday but they are so happy! This makes me take a good look at myself – how dare I ever complain about my clothes again! Africa is tough- the living is tough the culture is tough but it is teaching me many things. There is many things to learn from these incredible people and I look forward to learn more from the Kenyans and Ugandans 🙂

Month 6
Month 6 is hard. its been bitter sweet! You have the great feeling of accomplishing month 6 meeting the half way mark which feels amazing but then you get a kick in the gut that reminds you that you have whole more 5 months left to go! So bitter sweet! It’s really hard being away from home its hard being away from friends and family and being stripped away from comforts can be hard but I know it’s worth everything! God is changing me and using me! I wouldn’t trade it for anything but it doesn’t mean times don’t get hard! We have had team mates go home and people wanting to badly go home! It’s really hard seeing this because these team mates have been our family it’s all we have had for the last 6 months- so please pray for us all.
Pray that we can fight till the end. That we will keep running this Race!
