It has been a while since I’ve written a blog, but the ministry that I am at this month does not have Internet. So I’ve come to a mall with free wi-fi so I may write to all of you.

I am currently in the capital of Honduras. Shortly after arriving I found out that Honduras was labeled as the most dangerous country in the world… Don’t worry, I haven’t felt unsafe for a moment. Where we all are, we are very protected. (Not to mention that we have Papa on our side) But what have I been doing in the most dangerous country in the world? Well I came with the expectation that we would be painting a building that used to be the hottest night club in Honduras. Well, God through us for a loop and we are now leading a camp for kids 6-12 where we play games, teach about Jesus, and teach English. Not what I was expecting but it has been a huge blessing in disguise.

There is definitely a spirit of abandonment here in Honduras. It is more common to have single mothers than married mothers. In fact, most of the kids here don’t know who their father is. I believe that the static is that 8 out of 10 women with kids are single mothers. I hate it, but I love being able to bring the light to this country. The children here are so precious. The days that we have school, the kids run up to us and give us a piece of candy and hold on to you with no intention of letting you go. They are also so hungry to learn. The other day we were playing games and the kids were asking when we would go inside to learn English. WHAT? If kids in America were that hungry to learn… Dang.

Here at Don’t Miss the Opportunity, the ministry that we are working with, we are working side by side with teens from the slums of Honduras. These kids have held people at knife point for money to get high, lived in dumpsters, waited for restaurants to throw out their trash so they might find a scrap of food to eat… and here they are, working 8 hours a day just for an opportunity to get out of their horrible situations and given a chance for new hope. Some of these teens have come a long way, some have just begun the process, but they are apart of a family here. It has been a huge blessing being apart of this ministry that Tony, our contact, has here. I’m learning that the one, is worth all the “failures” that we may come across. Jesus did leave the 99 to go find the 1. I feel like I’m surrounded by 1’s and what a blessing it is.
