This is a small amount of the things you get, and there is still 6 months left.
An extremely eye opening perspective on what Christian ministry looks like: it looks like falling in love with people simply because God puts you in front of them.
You get to look at you own life and decide what is going to stay a part of it in the future, and what you could care less about: whether it's relationships, ideas, possessions, people, or plans!
How to travel out of a backpack
FUN! You get to do amazing things: ocean fishing, volcano exploring, lake viewing, forest exploring, camping under the stars, traveling with friends, surfing, swimming, relaxing, enjoying people, making fun of people, rollerblading, castle viewing, eating delicious treats, and tons more.
How to miss people back home, love them where they are at in life, say amen to their walk, and let them go; because if you do not do this, you will not be present on this Race.
Visions from God about what you might do when you get home.
An clear view of the people that really matter in your life.
The ability to live in community: despite what level you think you operate in currently, you will have to learn to operate in new ways. It will be tough, but worth it.
An understanding of what you need as a person on a daily basis to feel normal You receive love in amazing ways from some unlikely people: contacts, assistant contacts, translators, villagers, church members, community members, children, older generations; they will love your socks off and put clothing on your back and loads of food in your belly! It's terrific.
You will break, you will become broken; but you will be molded into a stronger person through it and because of it.
Possibly parasites and amoebas: don't worry they are very treatable, and you get to name them of you wish.
The ability to work out anywhere, with anything, in front of anyone, with ridiculous clothes on, in ridiculous places, at ridiculous times.
Try food that is soooo good! I did not say healthy, in some ways and instances yes, but rarely.
Try food that is not so good…
Ministry contacts that blow your mind and you will become best friends with.
Ministry contacts you can't stand: you love them and the work they do, but you just will not mesh with everyone.
Cook for yourself, your team, or 2 teams and multiple contacts you are living with: it's trying but well worth it to attain this skill.
Your culinary skills will be sharpened for sure, and you will pull meals and ingredients out of nowhere, and enjoy it!
Spirituality: if you have yet to experience the Holy Spirit, you will get your fill: you must be open for it and desire it daily, and yes, it will blow your mind!
You get Jesus in real life. You get to be Jesus to people, in real life.
The ability to make amazing friends with complete strangers after 1 bout of team time: team time is special and your fondness of it grows as you an your team both grow together on the journey.
The desire to invest in people
Teammates you absolutely pray for everyday that they realize the change they need: you love them, but do not always understand them.
Teammates you absolutely love and connect with in everyway and will spend th rest of your life in communication with: a great reason to do the race!
The desire to know people, and want to be known by people.
You get to be blessed by God in unreal ways at the most unexpected times: out of nowhere I found myself on a private beach in El Salvador under the stars worshipping God in a raw way. And in so many other ways will God bless you!
You get to surrender your family an friends to God and allow him to work on their lives and hearts in the best possible way.
You get to live radically, in completely different ways you ever thought you could with people you would never think could be such an important part of your life, in super random places. And you get to do it all because of the vehicle we call: The World Race.
