Its been a couple of weeks since my last post. I was in Montana for a week trying to fight some very remote fires in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. The fire actually burned itself out, which in my opinion is ideal, but not always possible. While in Montana, I got a virus called Pericarditis. The sac around my Heart is normally filled with fluid so the contractions of the heart are met with a lubrication preventing friction and pain between the heart an lungs. Pericarditis causes a inflammation of this fluid and sac associating in extreme pain and inability to breath! Its no joke! Im fine now thanks to the help of my Crew, the fine folks at Teton Medical Center, and Julie McGirk (the City of Prescott HR woman). Regardless, I had to catch a flight home and am missing out on money and adventures with the boys. Im not one to regret and Jesus obviously wanted me home to spend time with my family in Prescott on this long weekend. So im stoked to be able to spend the last 3 days with my nephew, sister and bro in law and parents!
On to the purpose of this blog. We have all done so much wrong in our lives. Trivial sin snowballs and becomes a nagging daily routine separating us from Gods glory. Relationships with others we have broken down and are unable to attempt a rebuild. The beauty in all of this, is forgiveness. Jesus' death on the cross, the central truth of Christianity, builds our spirit up to Gods Glory!!! We are forgiven for our sins through Christs death. Now we need to use this gift and mend our relationships with others. Below are 3 verses on forgiveness that give me strength and comfort when I am attempting to forgive myself, and forgive others.
Romans 8:32 "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?"
2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Hebrews 9:14, "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"
Forgiveness is not a 1 way street and it does not occur quickly. Patience and faith. Let these things guide you. Forgiveness will set you free as it has set all Christians free.
Thank you Jesus for this life with our family and friends. Let your Spirit guide us to your Kingdom. AMEN!
