Esse Quam Videri. To be rather than to seem. We spend a majority of our lives trying to figure out where we fit in this world. Within the last year of my life I have realized that we do not need to fit into this world, but in the eternal kingdom of God in Heaven! I knew that all along, but somehow shut it out of my daily life as I was trying to achieve different goals along the way. I am now focused on one goal. Giving myself up to Jesus all the days of my life.
My name is Dan Loghry and I am from Yuma, Arizona. I grew up on the family citrus farm along with my older sister, Betsy Ferrer, and older brother, Matt Loghry. I was the youngest by a long shot (a blessed surprise you might say!) and had a wonderful childhood and early adulthood enjoying my family and being very involved in sports around Yuma. I made a decision to attend a Catholic High School in Yuma where I would learn the value of a Christ based education. It was and still is a very small school based on a relationship with our creator and high academic standards. I made the decision to attend a Lutheran University in Southern Cal. I played soccer collegiately at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California where I made some of the best friends of my life and endured life experiences molding me into the person I am today. I graduated in May of 2008 and returned home to Yuma to remain close to my family and Grandmother who was failing due to cancer. I became a successful salesman for a Solar Energy Company called Smart Solar out of Scottsdale Arizona. In the summer of 2010 I moved to Prescott, Arizona to become a wildland fire fighter. I am a hotshot firefighter for the Granite Mountain Hotshots based in Prescott, Arizona. I also race mountain bikes and off road triathlons. I like to think im a serious competitor and hope to become pro upon my return from the World Race. I skydive for fun at a drop zone in Cottonwood Az. If you havent jumped out of a perfectly good airplane, I recommend it! You will never be closer to Jesus! There is obviously more to my life, but I figured this would be a decent start!
My sister Betsy, and her Husband Yago, had a baby boy a little over a month ago and I am an Uncle! His name is Yago Pau and is such a blessing to our family. YP brings our family together like no other person or event has in the past. Thank you Jesus for Yagito and bless him to your grace and glory all of the days of his young life. I look forward to the day I can bring my own child into this World and show him Jesus' mercy and grace. Contact me with any thing: 928 503 0208.
Grew up in a small border town in Arizona, Yuma, and went to Yuma Catholic High School. After High School, I went off to a small liberal arts college in Southern California to play soccer and grow, California Lutheran University. My time at CLU will serve as my foundation to my life as I explored so much with friends, woman, and family. I studied abroad at Bond University in Queensland Australia with 2 of my best friends, Mike Hanks and Chris Estes. After 6 months abroad I returned to CLU to finish my undergrad education and my last 2 years of collegiate Soccer. Upon graduating, began working in the renewable energy industry as a salesman. After a couple of years and a lucrative short career in Solar System Sales with Smart Solar PV out of Scotsdale, I turned my focus to firefighting. I became a wildland fire fighter in Prescott AZ for the Granite Mountain Hotshots. One of the Elite Hotshot crews on the West Coast and full of people who never quit or become complacent with Excellence. After Hotshotting 1 season in 2011, I was called to the Mission field and I am now traveling the Globe as a Christian Missionary. I am in a program called The World Race through an Organization called Adventures in Missions. follow me on my blogs- danloghry.theworldrace.org and ponyboynow.blogspot.com
I love my family and friends so much, and I will see you all soon.
Cycling is among my deepest passions on this earth, as is sky diving. Upon my return from my mission, I hope to continue cycling aggressively on the West Coast and continue jumping from perfectly good airplanes. I am not completely sure of where my life will go or what I will do, but I know a woman of God is in my future as is a family with her. I pray I am able to cycle and love for the rest of my life, always putting others before myself.
