“…So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything, and followed Him.”
                                                          – Luke 5:11

Thank you all for your prayers and financial support.  I’ve been blessed with just over $5,000 in donations and pledges thus far, bringing me a third of the way to my required support level.  The amount outstanding is certainly a big hurdle, but we serve an even bigger God!  I remain confident that the needed funds will arrive in His good timing.

Earlier this month, I headed off to Tennessee for a week of training with my fellow missionaries.  It was a physically and emotionally draining week for me personally.  When I arrived, I had just resigned my position at Liberty University and began to officially chart my new course.  There were times when I found myself second guessing my decision to drop everything and pursue full time ministry.  Bombarded with distractions and thoughts of the comforts in this temporary world, I realized the enemy was still at work, determined to prevent me from bringing hope to the nations.  In Luke 9, even Christ himself warned His disciples of the cost of following Him: “Foxes have dens, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”  I have to continually remind myself that life is a river, and pursuing Christ requires swimming upstream.  Distractions and temptations are normal, unfortunately.  We are on an endless downward escalator.  In order to grow in Christ, we have to turn around and spring up the escalator, putting up with all the perturbed looks from everyone else who is gradually moving downward.

Yet even with all of these challenges and all the doubts racing through my mind, God has been gracious and blessed me with a squad of forty-eight other caring and dedicated missionaries called to enter the mission field in October as well.  During our training, we were assigned to smaller teams of six or seven that we will be ministering closely with on a daily basis.  My team is rock-solid, energized with the same passion for reaching a lost and hurting world that has inspired me in recent years.  I know the Lord’s hand has been at work in forming this team and I can’t even imagine the great work He has in store for us.

After our training concluded, I returned home to Springfield, MA to spend a couple months focused on raising support.  Please continue to pray that I meet all of my deadlines.  I need to reach 50% of my support level by the time we depart in October and need to be fully supported by April of next year.  If you have yet to make a donation or would like to give an additional gift, please mail payments to the following address and be sure to include my name in the memo.
