Dear friends & family,
In August 2009, I took one of the biggest risks of my
life; I boarded a plane bound for Ireland to begin what would become one of the
hardest but greatest years of my life.
For 11 months, I traveled the world: Ireland, Romania, Hungary, Turkey,
Israel, Kenya, Uganda, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. I saw and experienced things I could
never dream of as I went along, country to country, in the Lord’s name.
We
worked at kids’ camps, soup kitchens, orphanages, and schools. We taught English, cleaned toilets, and
helped start a church. We visited
those in hospitals and encouraged those living with AIDS. We offered alternatives to women caught
in the sex trade and encouraged the church in place. Each day brought us something different, someone else to
love.
Throughout this trip, the Lord awakened something deep
in my soul, something that won’t let me settle for less than who I’m called to
be. For the first time in my life,
I truly realized the importance of being sent and the importance of those doing
the sending. This trip would not
have been possible without the generosity and prayers of many. It would not have been possible without
the Body of Christ coming together and seeing the need in this world.
On October 25th, I will take another step
of faith and begin the next chapter of my life.
I have seen the power of encouragement and the need to
mobilize a generation. It is
because of that need, that need to live beyond ourselves, that I am moving down
to Gainesville, GA to work with Adventures in Missions, the parent organization
of the World Race. I will be
working in the Admissions Department where I’ll have the opportunity to help
others like myself get out on the field.
From answering questions to conducting interviews, I’ll be walking
alongside these individuals as they take that step of faith to go.
While behind the scenes work may not seem as exciting
as serving overseas, it is every bit as important. Without the prayers and support of those in the office, the
World Race would never be possible.
And likewise, without your prayers and support the office would not
survive. By accepting this
position, I have committed to raising support yet again, as my salary is
dependent on your generosity. My
goal for this position is $10,000 with an immediate need of $3,000 by October
25th. This will cover
all my living and personal expenses while I am down in Georgia.
I have seen the Lord provide for me through the
generosity and sacrifice of many and I have faith He will do so once
again. My prayer is that you would
simply consider whether the Lord is calling you to support me, financially or
in prayer, as I begin this next chapter of my life. If you have any
questions about this opportunity at all, please don’t hesitate to contact
me. I would love to further
discuss what the Lord is doing in my life and the path He’s leading me down.
Thank you and God bless!!
