I can’t sleep.

For whatever reason, as I lie in bed tonight, all I can
think about is a certain little boy.
And as I do, tears begin to stream down my face.

I am not okay with
falling in love with people half way around the world to sit here and wonder if
they’re even alive.  I am not okay with children growing up in a
poverty they’ll never be able to get out of.

Before going on the Race, I read a book called The New Friars by Scott
Bessenecker.  I recently picked it
up and started reading it again.
And I’m glad that I did.
There’s a passion inside me that’s been quiet lately.  A passion I almost forgot even
existed.  As I read this book, I
came across the following quote:

Never before have there been
thousands of people dying because they are dangerously overfed sharing the
planet with billions who are dying because they cannot get enough calories to
sustain life.

As I read this quote, the passion within resurfaced.  I thought of this little boy I fell in
love with 3 years ago in the Philippines.
A little boy named Michael who forever changed my life.  As I thought about his precious face, I
realized I can’t not do something.  I can’t live my life pretending
everything’s okay when he daily lives a life that tells me otherwise.

So I’m not.

This October, I’m moving to Gainesville, Georgia to continue
my relationship with Adventures In Missions through their apprenticeship
program.  In doing so, I will have
the opportunity to get in touch with this passion and cast vision for where it may
take me.  I will be serving at the
AIM office for 6 months while living in community and pursuing a deeper
relationship with God.

I am currently in need of people willing to partner with me
as I take this next step in faith.
My position is a fundraised one so I am asking that you prayerfully
consider whether the Lord may be calling you to support me either financially or
in prayer.  My goal for this
program is $10,000 with an immediate need of $3,000 by October 26th.  This will cover all living and personal
expenses while I am down in Georgia.

I truly believe the Lord has called me to live beyond myself
and in joining this program, I feel I am taking the necessary steps in order to
discover what my deeper calling may be.

If you would like to partner with me in this incredible journey,
