I’m a bit late on this one but for whatever reason it’s difficult for me to sit down and blog when I have 39 brothers and sisters around me who won’t be shortly.

Anyway, this past month I had the privilege to serve in the bush in Cambodia.  What had the potential to be a difficult final month thanks to heat, rain, and bugs ended up being our favorite month.  My team was more united this past month than ever before and our contact was simply amazing.

Just to give you a bit of insight into the man of God we were working with, let me just say a few things.  Vuthy became a Christian in 2007, did YWAM’s DTS in 2008, and planted a church/school in August 2009.  He’s essentially taken it upon himself to teach this village English and, more importantly, introduce them to Christ.  He currently has around 80 kids and 50 youth coming to his classes daily and just in the time we were there we saw many of them accept Christ.  His vision for the village doesn’t stop at a church and some classes though.  He intends to build an orphanage, as well as a youth center, as soon as he can get the funds to do so.  He’s already been given the land for both and is now just waiting for the Lord to provide.  When I was talking to him about fundraising and trusting God one day, he told me, “Yeah it’s hard.  Sometimes I only have $5 and other times I don’t eat.  But it’s okay because it’s what God has called me to do.”  This man truly pours out everything he has for the people of this village and it’s evident the Lord is moving.  There is a spirit of joy that just hangs over Vuthy’s place that wasn’t there years before.  What used to be a place of violence has now become a safe haven for many.  It’s truly humbling to sit and talk to Vuthy about his vision and the way he’s living in expectancy.  He knows the Lord will provide because he’s seen it happen before.  He doesn’t let situations and circumstances get him down, rather, sees them as an opportunity for the Lord to intervene.

Had it not been for Vuthy, this past month would not have been what it was.  It was his vision that we caught hold of, that gave us passion.  This month was what it was because the Lord blessed us with this amazing man of God.

A few other squads have had the opportunity to work alongside Vuthy, including J squad, our fellow August racers.  They are working together as a squad to raise funds for Vuthy and his vision and have made a great video to provide even more insight into this man’s life.  I strongly encourage you to check out this video and prayerfully consider whether the Lord is calling you to come alongside this man of God and support him in his dreams.
