“I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing.
He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do
whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.
You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”  John 14:12-14

Walking alongside the Citadel overlooking the magnitude of this city, I can’t help but be overwhelmed with what’s to come.

You’re the God of this City
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
You are

I hear Ashley and Lindsay praying life over the city as we make way back to the warmth of the van.  With each step that I take, reality sets in–greater things are still to come and we get to be a part of that.

For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
Greater thing have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City

The truth of the matter is, Jesus himself told us that we will do greater things than he did if we call upon him.  HOW CRAZY IS THAT?!  I don’t know about you but last I checked the Jesus I know gave sight to the blind, healed the sick, made the lame walk, and even brought the dead back to life!  I mean, let’s think about that for a minute.  Jesus raised people from the dead.  I’m not talking, “hey I can cure the common cold or make your headache go away” type stuff.  I mean sure, that’s cool too but this is more than that.  Wherever Jesus went, health broke out!  This is beyond cool; it’s the real deal! And not only is it the real deal, he (Jesus) said that we (you and me) are going to do even greater things than this!  I don’t know about you but I can’t even wrap my mind around anything greater than this, let alone this in the first place…

There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God

The great part is though, there’s no need to wrap our heads around it.  All we have to do is have faith and call upon him and this will happen because God is God and we are not.  There’s no need to try to understand any of it.  In fact, we shouldn’t try to understand any of it.  God is so far beyond our comprehension, so far beyond our logic.  The things that we will see, the things that we will experience, are so far beyond anything we can fathom that I can’t even put words to them.  Because there is no one like our God.  And He does such remarkable things.  And he chooses to use us of all people.  I mean, think about it again.  JesusGod sent to dwell among men–told us we will do greater things than he did.  Is this getting through to you?  It’s nothing to brush off.  It’s HUGE!  Every city you walk in has the potential to be that city.  Because really, this song is not about one city.  This song is about every city.  EVERY CITY!  Get excited.  You have the honor, privilege, and blessing of being able to bring kingdom everywhere you go.  Wherever you go, whatever you do, make greater things happen.  Have faith.  Call upon him.  He said himself that it is possible.

For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here

It doesn’t matter if you’re sitting in a hostel or tenting half way across the world or if you are sitting at your desk at work or sitting on your bed at school.  Your city is that city.  Make it that city.  Bring kingdom to that city.  Have faith.  Call upon him.  He said himself that it is possible.

Lord God, penetrate the depth of my soul.  Consume my whole being and overwhelm me with a desire to bring more of your kingdom wherever I go.  May I never again take even one single step, even one single breath, without calling upon you first.  May my life be a living, breathing witness to your glory, your power, your righteousness.  May your fragrance pour forth in all I do, in all I say, in all I think and may every facet of my life be centered around bringing your kingdom here on earth.  Strengthen my faith that I may believe the words you have spoken, that I may stand in the anointing I’ve been given, that I may always cling to the truth I have come to know.  Silence the voices of scoffers, oh Lord, of anyone who claims it cannot be done, especially when that voice is my own.  Continue to break and rebuild me, my God, to be a forerunner of this generation.
