The hair.  I cut it short before coming on the Race and many were wondering how I was going to maintain that while I was out here.  Would I grow it out?  Would I find someone to cut it?  My answer was pretty much, “I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.”  I was fully prepared for swiss army knife haircuts when the Awakening came around.  By the end of country 2, my chia pet hair was already too long and seeing was something I wasn’t getting to do much of.  A haircut was definitely a must.  Lucky for me, the Awakening had 220 World Racers…someone was bound to know how to cut hair.  Flash back a bit to Ireland to a conversation with Caitlin.  “I’d love to fohawk your hair.”  Done and done.  I’m not too picky so the decision was made–my next haircut will be a fohawk.  The fohawk process started with the wonderful Rachel.  I’d never met her before the Awakening yet she was willing to sacrifice her free time to cut my hair.  How awesome is that?!  It turned out well and we’ve all been loving it…but it wasn’t quite done yet.  So enter Birkleigh and her vision for my hair.  Today, my fohawk is complete.  And here are the before and after pictures I have promised you, Rachel, as well as pictures (and a video!) for all of you of the fohawking process.  Enjoy 🙂

So I’ll admit, I was terrified to let Birkleigh cut my hair (that first picture was them praying a shield of protection over my head and hair)–again Birk, my apologies because I should have trusted you and your skill completely–but now that I’ve seen it, I love my hair.  Pretty sure none of these pictures do it justice.  Nonetheless, it was a pretty comical process I imagine.  We shall see how my hair ends up next month because as I said, I am a chia pet!!
