For this week’s Monday’s Music Meditations, I’ve decided to introduce you to a Christian duo many people have never heard of.  Instead of sharing my thoughts with you about each song, I am simply going to let the words speak for themselves and up the ante a little bit, including four songs total.  I couldn’t choose which two to narrow it down to so I’ve just decided to include them all.  Allow me to introduce to you Monk & Neagle.  What I will say about them as a whole, however, is that all of these songs are worth your time to listen to.  There’s just something about the words they sing and the music they play that captivates me.  They add their own poetic twist to worshiping and serving God and I must say, I’m a fan.  So anyway, I can’t force you to listen to any of these songs or reflect on any of these lyrics, but I do strongly encourage it.  Again, as I mentioned before, there are four songs total so it will be a bit long but the songs are all there and so are the lyrics, though I do apologize I could only find a 30 second snipet of the one.  So take some time today on this busy Monday and center yourself on the One who created you, the One who loves you.  As you listed to these songs and read the lyrics, focus on Him.  Pray that He may remove all distraction.

“The Twenty-First Time”
Nowhere to live, nowhere to fall
He used to have money, but he’s wasted it all.
His face is a photograph burned in my mind,
but I pretend not to see him for the twenty-first time

He sleeps under stars, that’s all he can afford
His blanket’s an old coat he’s had since the war
He stands on the corner of Carter and Vine
But I pretend not to see him for the twenty-first time

He may be a drifter, he’s grown old and gray
But what if he’s Jesus and I walk away?
I say I’m the body and drink of the wine
but I pretend not to see him for the twenty-first time

She’s twenty-nine but she feels forty-eight
She can’t raise three kids on minimum wage
She’s cryin’ in back of the welfare line
but I pretend not to see her for the twenty-first time

She may be a stranger tryin’ to get through the day
but what if it’s Jesus and I walk away?
I say I’m the body and drink of the wine
but I pretend not to see her for the twenty-first time

This is a call for a change in my heart
I realize that I’ve not been doin’ my part
when I needed a Savior, I found it in Him
He gave to me, now I’ll give back to them

Drifter or stranger, father or son
I’ll look for Jesus in every one
’cause I am the body and drink of the wine
and I’m thankful there’s more than the twenty-first time

Constantly
Some days I wonder
Other days I find myself at Your feet
Someday I slumber
Others my heart’s complete
At 1, I’m running
At 2, I’m crawling
I’m still up and down
As my heart falls short once again

Chorus
I know that You are constant
Steady and unchanging
So take this broken heart
And do some rearranging
Cause I lose some of my senses
When my heart’s walking fences
Lord, make me more like You
Constantly

Some days I’ve got it all together
Other days I can’t find my head
Some days I can brave the weather
Others I’m weak instead
At 1, I’m standing
At 2, I fall flat on my face
I’m still up and down

As my heart falls short once again

All the oceans and the seas know the sound
Of Your beautiful voice
And if You tell them to be calm and be still
They have no other choice

You put the stars in the sky and then You taught them to shine
They know just what to do
Every morning’s a symphony that’s perfectly timed
Thanks to beautiful You

Beautiful You
I can’t imagine life without You
Beautiful You
I can’t imagine being alone
Beautiful You
The only thing I ever wanna do
Beautiful You
Is have You hold me in Your arms
Beautiful You

All the waterfalls know just where to fall
Brilliant every time
When it rains, you are behind it all
With gentle rhythm and rhyme

Mountains high know Your voice
And they are ready to move where You tell them to
With all my heart, I believe that I can do the same
Thanks to beautiful You

Every ocean, every sea
Every morning’s a symphony
Every drop of rain, every waterfall
All the stars in the sky are so beautiful
Every breath I breathe, every beat of my heart
I feel so alive ‘cause of who You are
Every day I rise, every time I sing
I’m reminded of Your great love for me
You’re beautiful, so beautiful

Beautiful You
I just want to be around You
Beautiful You
I can’t imagine life without You
Beautiful You
There is nothing that I can’t do
Beautiful You
When I build my life around You

Beautiful You
