Dear Family & Friends:
I pray this letter finds you and your family well!!  I want to start off by saying Thank you!  Thank you for taking an interest in me and my ministry.  Thank you for investing in me, whether that be through prayer, finances, or both.  I greatly appreciate it and would not be able to do this without you!

I wanted to share with you a bit about how I’ve seen God already at work throughout these beginning days of my, I guess you would say, adventure.  Fundraising has never been something I’ve enjoyed, as I’m sure most people can agree with.  I think the only fundraising I ever somewhat liked was selling candy when I was younger, and that was mostly only because I liked eating it!  Unfortunately, candy would not get me very far for this trip so fundraising is necessary.  As I began writing my letter and started sending them out, I began to pray to God that He’d provide for me in ways I’ve never asked before.  I prayed for those who would be receiving my letters, that they may be open to hearing God’s will for their money, and I prayed for myself, that I may stay encouraged throughout the good times and the bad.  As my first letters went out and no money seemed to come in, the encouragement I felt soon started to fade.  I started to shift my prayers to a goal I set for myself- to have $1,000 in my account by the end of March.  It’s not a lot when it comes to the whole, but I knew that if I could just get that first $1,000 I’d be on my way.  I prayed and prayed that God would provide this money, but it seemed like each time I checked my account, there had been no change.  I started to doubt whether God would come through.  I’m more than happy to say though that on March 31st, I officially topped $1,000 in my account, surpassing it by $175 actually.  God has not and will not fail me throughout any of this!!  This was just another testament of that 🙂

Thinking about the next year to come definitely has me excited.  I’ve found myself checking my emails, blogs, and facebook every 5 minutes, or so it seems, due to the instant community that has been formed among my team already.  It seems like we’re addicted to communicating with one another and getting to know each other and with each person I talk to, I just get that much more excited to meet them at training camp in May.  There’s such a variety among the team members and it’s great!  We all have something different to contribute!  Some of us are still finishing college, while others have been out of college for years.  Some are in serious relationships or married, while others of us couldn’t imagine being in a relationship right now.  Some of us have traveled internationally before, while still some others have never left the country, let alone the state in which they live!  It’s crazy how God is bringing us all together to work for a common cause.

If you’d like to read more about my preparations, my teammates, the World Race, or any of that really, feel free to check out my blog at www.dainanorusis.theworldrace.org.  I update it at least once a week and will continue to do so while out on the field.  Until next time, I want to share with you these prayer requests:

• For my fundraising, that God continues to provide for me and continues to uplift me when I get discouraged
• For my supporters, that they may be reassured that their funds are being put to good use
• For my potential supporters, that God may open their hearts to consider donating to my cause
• For my teammates, that they, too, may stay encouraged and keep seeking to do God’s will
• For the people of the nations where we will be serving, that God may prepare their hearts to hear His message and may seek to end the oppression, slavery, and injustice that may be occuring there

May God bless you always!!
