Much like Mozambique, Swaziland was a place of its own. It was beautiful, welcoming and God is certainly moving there. I loved my time in Swaziland working with the different care points and with the AIM staff. They were a pleasure to have met and a blessing to get to know. Here are some random thoughts I would like to share from my time in Swaziland:
– Swaziland is completely surrounded by the country of South Africa.
– It is one of the only complete monarchies left.
– Wifi is still almost completely impossible to find and, lots of times, you have to pay for it.
– The people are some of the most welcoming and friendly I have met so far on the race.
– Swaziland is prophesied to be the pulpit of Africa, and let me tell you, Swazis LOVE their revivals and their church services. Seriously… 3 hour church service.
– They speak a language called Siswati, they LOVE visitors and sometimes give them Swazi names. Mine is Bawinde, meaning “winner.”
– We lived a little way outside of Manzini, the capital of Swaziland. Because of this, we walked AT LEAST 5 miles on any given day. NO wonder people in Swazi are so skinny!
– A house with 20 people can be TOTALLY AWESOME … but also, super loud, and pretty jam packed.
– That weave though!… So, I had one for 7 whole days. It was super cool looking, also super hot, super itchy and super never doing that again.
– Fasting seems to be a commonly accepted spiritual discipline, as experienced during the day i was fasting from both food and words (another blog to come on that later).
– King PIe… enough said.
– If anything kills me on this race, it will be my inablility to understand traffic. Hint: The big ones don’t stop… and you have no right of way.
At the end of this month I can honestly say the Lord taught me so much about his kingdom, my place in it and what he feels and sees in others. My time there was irreplacable and I can’t wait to tell everyone more about it. More posts to come. Much love from Madagascar!
