During their first nap at about 9am, Tyra was having trouble sleeping. She was crying…A LOT. Looking in her eyes I could tell that she was just really afraid. I looked on the white board that had a note that said, “Tyra is new and tends to get scared of adults and older kids…if she wakes up crying just give her a pacifier and lay down next to her until she falls asleep”. So that’s what I did. I tried to give her a pacifier but she wouldn’t take it. She just kept crying. So I did all I knew how…I prayed. I bound the spirit of fear in Jesus’ name. I prayed that the perfect love of the Father would cast out all fear and that she wouldn’t see me but that she would see Jesus and be comforted. The whole time she was crying I just prayed. I prayed in the Spirit and I prayed with my own understanding. I even sang Amazing Grace a little and she finally fell asleep. I walked out of the room and all I could say to Katie was, “Now that’s church”.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came and visited me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, Lord when did we see you hungry and feed you or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me”. (Matthew 25:34-40)
Today I had to honor of feeding, holding, comforting, playing, and laying with Jesus!
