I speak English. And English. And more English. Of the southern dialect. And I took some Spanish in high school but didn’t pay too much attention. It’s not like I’ll ever need it. Well, that’s what I thought in high school. However, everyone can laugh at me now!
Why laugh?
I signed up to do the “Spanish” route! This means that I’ll be going to countries where they speak Spanish. And Spanish. And more Spanish. 11 countries worth of Spanish actually and possibly different dialects of it. Who knows. I went to the Dominican Republic once for a college class in Cross Cultural Youth Ministry. They spoke Spanish. Then the big earthquake in Haiti happened and we left (but not because of the earthquake…).
But I’m REALLY excited about all of this Spanish NOW, because I have the chance to pick up on a language during the 11 months I’ll be gone and hopefully be able to use it at some point! Granted it’s the one I didn’t care about in high school but will hopefully have remembered more than I thought when I get there.
What 11 countries will I be going to you ask? Well, 11 throughout Central and South America!

1. Puerto Rico
2. Dominican Republic
3. Ecuador
4. Peru
5. Bolivia
6. Panama
7. Costa Rica
8. Nicaragua
9. Guatemala
10. El Salvador
11. Honduras
* Fun fact #1: route is subject to change. Just FYI.
* Fun fact #2: (or maybe I’m just showing my ignorance) I just learned that ‘El Salvador’ is a country and I thought Nicaragua was in Africa….but evidently not.
* Added expectation from my last blog: Learn world geography!
* for more info on the countries I’ll be going to visit: http://www.theworldrace.org/?tab=routes&subtab=january-2014-1
**SNEAK PEAK: My next blog will be about this guy I just ran into at Starbucks who told me to not go on the World Race….Stay tuned to hear why. It was VeRy interesting to say the least.
