So i recently went on my first mission trip to the Dominican Republic and wanted to share a little of my experience with all my friends, family, and supporters!
What an amazing place and such an amazing experience.  The people of the DR are forever in my heart.  The love they shared with us and with each other will never be forgotten.
I have never seen such beautiful people in my life… inside and out.. happiness in the midst of poverty just blows my mind. I found myself feeling sorry for the "things" they lack that we have grown so accustomed to and often take advantange of…. And i suddently had an "aha" moment… why should i feel sorry for them? they should feel sorry that we have learned to collect things, and always want the next high tech toy, and waste time watching mindless tv, waste money, water, and electricity, whine and complain about cleaning or driving or working….  The people of DR spend time as family, talking, telling stories, serving each other,  worshiping, enjoying fellowship and being happy and content in the simplicity of it. I learned so much from the adults and the children. While being stuck in the pouring rain walking back from the construction sight one day…we found ourselves standing under a building while 4 little boys danced and jumped and entertained us in the pouring rain.. and they were having so much fun that it made me just smile and want to run out there with them!!
This is just a glimpse of what is to come in January for 11 months and i just simply can't wait!! 🙂

xoxo
