I’ve arrived! This month, my entire squad is in Chiang Mai Thailand. I absolutely love it here, and the ministry we’ve partnered with is incredible. Sorry for the late update, but for the last week, we’ve been diving into ministry! Unlike last month, and most months on the race, we’re in an all squad month. That means my entire squad is living and doing ministry together instead of going to different parts of the country to do ministry.
This month, we’re working with Lighthouse in Action. I could explain it, but I think this video gives a better picture of what Lighthouse in Action is:
Isn’t the vision amazing? My host, Emmi, has a beautiful heart for the girls here in Chiang Mai, and she loves World Racers. She’s worked with a lot of teams, and she knows how to share her vision with people. After a 3 day cultural orientation, my team was placed in one of Lighthouse’s three ministries—the café and hostel. At first, some of us were a little bummed because we wanted to be going into the bars and interceding, but God had other plans for us!
My second week working in the café began today, and it is a whole bunch of fun. I’m not allowed to make coffee or food, but I do get to work beside the girls here. Already I’ve made friends, and the more I work with them, the more their personalities shine. Other parts of my month include cleaning dishes, serving food, cleaning bathrooms, and sitting at the front desk checking people in! I also might have opportunities to paint murals, make videos, and play my uke in the cafe.
I ask that you continue to pray for those relationships to flourish. We have 3 weeks left and my squad and I want to pour everything we have into those we meet. The Thai people are an inviting and welcoming people, and I am excited to see what the rest of this month has for me!
