It was about 2pm when Jane and I were walking down the street to grab a taxi home from the center. Loud music was blaring from an approaching pick-up truck. As it passes by, we look in the back of the truck only to see a large Buddha statue with a monk dressed in orange worshipping the statue. Jane and I looked at each other and I said, “These are the times I want to sing…Jesus, Jesus, how I love you…” We were singing together and before we knew it the truck was approaching us from the opposite direction with the loud music blaring again. We thought it was kind of strange, and then suddenly out of no where, the monk dips a cup in a bucket of water and slings it at us! We were shocked and didn’t know what to think as the truck drove off with the monk laughing hysterically in the back of the truck. I was soaked! My pants were soaked!

We’re not really sure if he was trying to make us upset or if it was a joke, but it sure gives us something to laugh about! Only in Thailand will you be soaked by a monk riding in the back of a truck with loud music playing and a Buddha statue. J Oh, the great memories…
