Sunday morning we had an amazing time of worship here at Alabanza as we had church in the barn. We let the Holy Spirit lead and people shared testimonies of what God was doing in their lives, read scripture God had revealed to them, and sang songs God had placed on their hearts. One thing that stuck out to me was the common theme this morning: taking time to just sit with Jesus.

What does that look like? Not having a structured time of reading scripture or going by a schedule, etc. Being free in Jesus means trusting Him and truly spending time with Him. One young man stood up and gave testimony that his friend had traveled overseas to visit him and he was constantly trying to do stuff for his friend. All that his friend wanted was to just sit and chat and be with him. His friend had come all this way to hang out with him. That is what Jesus wants from us…to just sit and chat with Him. Not to try and check off a list, or see how much we can do for Jesus…just be with Him.

We also focused on how the closer and longer we become friends with someone, we can ask them for more and more and they will give it to us. God wants to show up and show off and give us much more than we ever ask of Him. He is just waiting for us to build that friendship with Him where we feel empowered to ask of Him the big things He really desires us to ask of Him and to give them to us.

In order to do that, we have to be still and be quiet with the Lord. This is hard for me as I am constantly doing something. God is stretching me in this area and longs to free me of my limitations.
