There is something special about the embrace of a Father. As a child I was blessed to have a father who loved me and always did his best to raise me up right. He cared for me, provided for me, disciplined me, and taught me about life. Some of you may have that very same experience. Some of you may not of had a father who was present in your life. Some of you may have had a father who was present but many times you wished he wasn’t. Or sadly, maybe some of you have only a memory of your father because he passed away. I dont know. We all have our own stories. Your story is different than mine. But one thing that is true is that we have a Heavenly father who is always there, always present, forever loving, forever faithful, from beginning to end. (Lamentations 3: 22-23)
This month our team is serving in Siem Reap Cambodia. One late night during ministry we decided to visit the city Hospital. There is where we met a young lady who had been admitted into the ER because she overdosed on pills. We laid our hands on her and began to pray. We asked God to heal her body and to take away the pain. After we prayed we met her younger brother Sanwan. We learned that Sanwan rushed his older sister to the hospital from their small village 30 minutes away. He told us that she and her husband were fighting and for some reason she tried to take her life. Seeing the distress and worry on his face we decided to stay with him a while.
As we began to learn about his life he told us that his father died when he was very young. He expressed that he only has a faint memory of his father and nothing more. As the Holy Spirit prompted we shared with him that he has a heavenly Father that loves him dearly. That God knows him and sent his only son Jesus to die for his sins. He said “Yes Yes I know about this Jesus and the God that sent him but I don’t know him as my father”. With this in heart we asked, “If your father was here today, What would you say to him.” Without hesitation Sanwan cried out, “I would tell him that I love him, that I want to be with him, I never want to leave him, and I want to see his face.” With tears in our eyes we said,”Sanwan that is exactly what you say to your Father in Heaven.” A peace like no other fell on Sanwan. A big smile appeared upon his face. Joy entered into his heart. It was remarkable. With our very own eyes we saw a homecoming. Sanwan had found the Father he was always looking for.
John 14:6
Like Sanwan, are you searching for the Father? Does your heart long to be in His presence. Listen, Jesus paid the price for you to come home to the Father. Jesus died on the cross for us to be reconciled. He rose back to life to show us the way. As the firstborn, Jesus invites you into an intimate relationship with the Father above. The only way to the Father is through Jesus. Accept Him in your heart today and let Him lead you there. Come home young lady…Come home young man. Your Father is waiting…
