Welcome to the World Race. Welcome to forced community and frustrations with ‘lack of unity’. Welcome to the people who are your new family for the next 11 months, what? They don’t ‘feel’ like family, shocking the six to seven strangers around you are not living up to your ridiculous expectations you’ve set for them. Strange. Their habits annoy you, their opinions make your cringe and roll your eyes, their why of being on the race doesn’t match up with your why, so inwardly your questioning your ‘place’ here, here on the World Race.
Stop.
Listen, here I am sitting in month 10 [actually the end of month 10] in Guatemala with my ‘family’ I didn’t choose this family, I didn’t pick the 5 ladies that surround me 24/7 but God did, he placed us together, for a reason and with a purpose.
Our ministry this month. Move mountains. Literally small mountains of dirt. Sometimes from one spot to another, sometimes from the dirt road to create a new mountain, to then surely be moved another day. You know how? Buckets. A lot, a lot of buckets. Small buckets, big buckets, sometimes basins. It doesn’t matter if it can hold dirt, it’s used. Shovel after shovel full is placed in our buckets hoisted up onto already bruised shoulders, and then spread or piled wherever the broken Spanish of my Mamas and Papi’s directs us. In the bright morning sun the ‘mountains’ look so big, so intangible. Yet when a community of people, sets out with the same goal in mind UNITY is created and mountains are moved.
Naturally coming on the World Race you think unity will be easy, unity will just happen or even worse unity will be a field of daisies. Wrong. Not everyone is going to have your same work ethic, your exact perception of the bible, your opinions,views, your initiative or motivation. Your gonna come across mountains that need to be moved and your gonna be too busy dancing in the trap the devil set out that you so willingly stepped into. The trap of the ‘whys’ – the why is it so hard, why can’t we be united, why can’t this be easier. These thoughts can consume your mind, if you allow them.
Enough. Enough with the whys already. God called you on the race for this season and for a reason!!! YOU, yes you. Are apart of something so much bigger then those whys. Stop looking for unity and start focusing on God and the calling he placed on your life, the calling he placed on each and everyone of your new family members. Join forces and MOVE mountains for the Kingdom. He has given us all the authority and dominion to do this. We have NO excuse.

The only authority the devil has is the authority we so freely give him. Stop giving him authority. Break agreement with the lies [why’s] and fix your eyes on Jesus. Fix your eyes on the bigger picture of advancing the Kingdom and FOLLOW HIM. When your eyes are fixed on Him, you can take Joy in moving those mountains. Jesus has already won the victory. Claim the truth over your life. That unity you so desperately wanted, that will be an outpouring of this.
