I have been slow in finishing up my blogs on China so I apologize. Our blogs that we write during our time there and the pictures we publish have to be vague to protect our brothers and sisters that are living in that country. The first 2 weeks of our ministry in China we were at a university studying Chinese culture. The country is rich in history and culture and we were able to experience and learn a lot. So our mornings were spent learning Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting, tea ceremonies, art, history, philosophy, music, etc… It was a great time to go back to school and feel like a student again. It was definitely different as there was no heat in the buildings but we survived and are the stronger for it.
Our afternoons were spent meeting students and working on their oral English skills. We developed sweet friendships with them and we were blessed beyond words for their hospitality and love they showed each one of us individually. We can’t publish pictures of the students but trust that some heard the gospel and some received Jesus Christ and are now our brothers and or sisters in Christ and some the Lord is still drawing to himself. I hope you enjoy the pictures as just a snippet of our time in that vast country.

Here we are waiting for English Corner to begin Just being silly while we wait!

Shoe cleaners are all over this areas of China. I love to do as the locals and if that means eating street food or getting my shoes cleaned I am always up for something new!

I was practicing colors with my new camera and Lauren and I are showing off our paper cutting expertise!

Thanksgiving in China

Thanksgiving in China – similarities to American Thanksgiving? The weather was cold and we didn’t eat Chinese food for lunch! Our Thanksgiving celebrations went on around our normal schedule. We had lunch at KFC, which has officially taken over the world, and after English corner and dinner we had a squad party. We had party hats and sweets and played games and did skits and we ended the evening praising and thanking the “Chief” (our code word for God while in China) for His abundant blessings to us. It was such a fun celebration and if you have to be away from home on Thanksgiving this was the way to do it.

These are the thespians minus Jenny Dawson who performed an impromptu Thanksgiving skit for us. Just think of the story of Scrooge and change the holiday to Thanksgiving! Very Funny!

Our Thanksgiving Feast!
Chinese Traditional Medicine

We went to a hospital that only practices traditional medicines. And we had our pulse taken and our tongue looked at and we were pronounced healthy!
Chinese Calligraphy
This was probably our favorite day of learning except it was also the hardest because we weren’t very good!

Our version of calligraphy…. Proper Chinese Calligraphy
