Today was our day off. Most of the team headed to Granada to go zip-lining but Christina, Alana, Amy and I decided to spend the day in Leon, the largest city near us. We had an awesome time. Pizza for lunch, amazing iced coffee at a little outdoor café next to the largest cathedral in central America, wandering around the little markets, visiting some of the cathedrals, shopping for (American) Thanksgiving and just really enjoying each other’s company.

At one point between watching our new friend Raymond make amazing wire jewelry and shopping for a birthday present for one of Amy’s favorite teens here, we were wandering around wondering what to do next. I’ve been ATL-ing in Candelaria (Asking the Lord) for the last couple days and so I jokingly said that we should ATL to find something fun to do.
But then we were like, why not? God gave us this day off to be enjoyed. God created fun. Why shouldn’t we ask Him to lead us? So we did. At the second intersection, we felt torn between going straight and going left. We stood there for about five minutes until Amy said that maybe we were supposed to go to the middle of the two streets. We looked to see what’s

on the corner and it’s the wackiest looking toy store ever. Seriously, it was amazing. It had rides and huge tinsel balls hanging from the ceilings. We tried on masks and picked out Christmas stickers for the orphanage in Guatemala. We bought kites and played with toys and just had a good time.
Honestly, I just think Jesus is funny. When we prayed for something fun to do I was picturing a bowling alley or a movie theatre. But He lead us to the most ridiculous toy store I’ve ever seen. Today reminded me that God IS funny.

I serve a God that is BIG. He’s awe-inspiring, powerful, holy, righteous, the author of truth and justice. And He’s fun. He loves us enough to make us laugh, to give us amazing friends and Superman kites and iced-coffees that make us cry (okay, not quite but close).
How cool is that?
