This is a prayer Sydney and I wrote to read during church service at Fisherwick. Every Sunday they have a “Prayer for others” that someone writes. So, here is what the Lord put on our hearts to speak…..
Lord, we honor you here and recognize that you are here in this place. Holy Spirit, we ask that you would give us a heart of compassion for those that are not with us today. Those who are both believers in Christ and non-believers, we ask for your favor to be upon them and for your ever-present love to pursue them. We ask that you would protect those who are in harms way and for you to guide those who are seeking direction. Lord, we ask for you to teach us how to love our neighbor as ourselves. You are a God who sees the world and every individual. You are a God who gives hope to the hopeless, who binds up the broken hearted and gives freedom to the captives. You are a Father to the fatherless, sustainer to the widow and provider to the poor. There are none too far from your reach, there is no brokenness to strong for you to redeem. So, we pray for those who feel they are too broken, too stupid, too dirty, too drunken, too poor to be loved by you. Rather, we proclaim your abundant, unconditional love over all these people.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
