Over the last few, but mostly this, month I have been discovering that ministry can look like anything and everything. This month in Swaziland was a little different, as the whole squad was in the same area working with an AIM base that is located here. The house I’m staying at has two other team living in it as well. Two people from each of the teams staying at our house make up the group I have been doing ministry with this month.
Our ministry this month was to re-write lesson plans that were made for older kids for 3-5 year olds. Well that was the main focus of what we were doing, we also had the opportunity to others things as well. Ministry can look like: making 28 nine-foot Goliaths, cutting out shapes for hours on end, going out to care points to hang out with some local children, sorting papers, compiling grades for children over the last four years, tying tags on handmade bags, cutting out templates for fabric to be cut, or even babysitting so that our contacts can go out on a date.
Doing ministry, is anything that will help your contact. No matter how small the task may be. The smallest things mean the world to someone. I loved the work and the people that I met in Swaziland.
I know that many of people on the squad helped out at many of the care points that were in the area we were staying. Here is a fact about Swaziland that you should know. Swaziland has about 1.1 million people and about half of the population are under the age of 18 years. A lot of these children have either lost one or both parents. The children that come to the care points come for food and learning about Jesus. Many children walk a good distance to get to one of these care points. It’s the greatest thing to see the smile on these children when you love on them. That’s what anybody wants, is to be loved.
Until Next Time.
