I grew up in a big family always around others, helping out when needed. I loved doing this. I love to be around others and I am a very caring and patient person. When I was a teenager I helped in Sunday School with the 4 and 5 year olds and during the summer I would help with vacation bible school (VBS) with this age group. It’s a great age.
One summer I had the opportunity to join a women’s group heading to Ukraine on a missions trip. I spent the first week helping to run a VBS there. While there a spark lit within me . To see the faces of the children there touched me. Seeing how Gods love shone brightly through each person at that VBS amazed me. I went home with a different view and a spark. Then last year at this time God gave me another chance to see how His love shines bright. I went to Spain to help the local missionaries spread God’s message. And when I got home that spark I had, had grown. I felt as though God was calling me towards missions again, but for a longer trip.
But once home and back to work and school. I didn’t think that I would be able to leave for longer than two weeks. I had accepted a summer job with the government and applied to a four year program that would start in the fall. Even though I had planned out what I wanted (or thought I wanted) for the next few years I still felt that small flame burning inside. As the summer started to end, I found out that I didn’t get in this year for that four year program and that my employer at my summer job wanted to extend my contract for the fall. So even though one door had closed, one had remained open for a bit longer. That flame started to stir. Now with nothing planned for the year coming up, I researched mission trips and found Adventures in Missions (AIM), after emailing with staff of AIM, blog stalking and praying a whole lot. I believe that God has lead me here and has many plans for me and the people I meet along this journey with Him.
Until Next Time.
