For several years now I have been praying for the IDP camp
in the Great Rift Valley. I have prayed for water, food, homes, land,
education, employment… the list goes on. All this time I have heard of very
little actually happening there and at times found myself very discouraged and
feeling like God was not answering my prayers.

The Kenya Initiative has major 5 areas that we wish to
address:

1.     Clean
water

2.     Land
to build homes

3.     A
community center

4.     Employment
or job skill training for women

5.     A
biomass charcoal business for the men

In each of these areas we plan to incorporate discipleship
and faith.

It was clearly from God that these goals aligned with the
same goals I had on my heart as well. These were things that I had been praying
for.

Now that I am here in Kenya, I have been able to see God’s provision in each of these 5 areas.
We are not starting from nothing as we may have expected. In fact, each of
these areas God has already made connections or blessed before any of us even
arrived. The prayers I’ve prayed were heard and were answered and continue to
come to fruition.

A nearby camp was given a borehole (water source) by some
volunteers. This can serve as a good resource to us as we work toward getting
clean water available. Some more land has already been purchased (not enough
for each family to have a home, but it is a start toward our goal). The AIC
church has began collecting donations and has made plans for a community center
that has all of the characteristics we were planning on incorporating. We have
met with several women who have been involved in training women in things like
sewing or craft making. We are blessed by their insight and hope to be able to learn
from their experience. Lastly, we have been blessed with sawdust, like manna
from heaven to use for our biomass charcoal business.

I am so encouraged and overwhelmed by God’s provision. I’ll
admit that there were days when I felt like praying for the IDP camp was not
enough. Today it is clear that my prayers
were never fruitless
, they were (as my teammate told me) “moving heaven.

I want to encourage you, as you read this, to never
underestimate the power of your prayers.

Your prayers move heaven!

Prayer Requests:

1.     Each
of the 5 areas (water, land, community center, women’s training/employment,
charcoal project)

2.     Discipleship
and relationships

3.     A
safe and reliable vehicle and housing for our team

4.     Support…
I do not have enough to get me through even this next month (It will take at
least $210 to pay through September and I’m still in need of $660/month)

Kenya you can donate online by clicking HERE
