As you well know, if you’ve been reading my blogs (or have met me), I have a heart of compassion for the displaced people living in the IDP Camps in Kenya. Liz Martin, who is a part of the Kenya Initiative, wrote this blog and I’d like to share it with you. There is a link to help support the work that Kenya Initiative will be doing and on the left is a link to help support me in doing this work.

Merry Christmas: Our Trash. Their Treasure.

Today
I sit and reflect over the Christmas gifts I drooled over as a child.
Whether it was my barbie convertible or a brand new soccer ball, they
both stole my excitement for a couple days until I wanted the next new
thing. Can you relate?

Today I sit and I stare at these pictures of kids in the Internally Displaced People camps…

I
am struck that our trash can become their treasure. I am struck that
their excitement comes from the use of old bottle caps and tin wire. I
am struck that they don’t know what that “next new thing is. I am
struck that they are too young to know that they live way below the
poverty line.

This
Christmas the Kenya Initiative would like to boldly ask for partners to
come alongside this vision. We are planning to launch next summer to
Kenya but can’t do that unless we form partnerships financially and
prayerfully.

Would
you consider giving a Christmas gift this season? It’s still not too
late to give a tax-deductible year-end gift either. If so, CLICK HERE.

We look forward to working together with you to further God’s love and bring hope to the nation of Kenya.
