Nobody said it was easy to live in community
Nobody said it was easy to give up all the comforts of home
Nobody said it was easy to leave your family and friends
Nobody said it was easy to live for the Kingdom
Nobody said it was easy to bring Kingdom to those who don't want to hear it
Nobody said it was easy to love the unloveable
Nobody said it was easy to give up all expectations for your life
Nobody said it was easy to give Abba Father everything of yourself
Nobody said it was easy to fight in the Spiritual Realm everyday because Satan doesn't want you to get out of your bed.
Nobody said it was easy to look in a child's eyes and not be able to save them from all of the evil and poverty in their lives.
Nobody said it was easy to TRUST COMPLETELY in the Lord
Nobody said it would be easy to give up your diet, routine, sleeping schedule, real toilets, family, comforts and/or normalcy of life.
Well that's what we did. We gave up all these things and more to do this for ourselves and for the Kingdom. These past 9 1/2 months along with the next month and half haven't been easy. Yes we've been blessed with opportunities to see and do some cool things and I look at those things as little gifts from our Daddy saying you deserve this. Those times don't happen very often….
most of the time we are….
With children who find food in the dump
With 15 year olds who are pregnant and scared to death
With unreached people groups
With the sick who can't afford treatment
With the outcasts, gamblers and the drunks
With people we don't understand
With the same 6ish people under the same roof in each others business, living life together
With people who expect crazy things from you just because you're white. IM NOT AN ATM!!
With people who want to pour into you
With people who are difficult to deal with and love
We're not showering everyday. We're eating whatever is put in front of us (and sometimes still hungry) We're sleeping under mosquito nets praying we don't get malaria. We're covered in dirt at the end of the day, sometimes from just walking. We're lacking in nutrition somedays. We're reading and playing cards for entertainment everyday. We're wearing the same shirt for three days straight. We walk 80% of the time to wherever we are going.
Doesn't sound easy does it? Well, you're right it's not but you know what? It's worth every minute, step, prayer, dollar, worry and bus ride from hell.
Now we face something even scarier…. Going home to the comforts that we left behind. Our comforts out here on the field aren't the same comforts we left behind, now those comforts are scary. It's comfortable to walk barefoot, dance in church, talk in another language, rarely seeing white people, to say Hi to everyone on the street, to eat odd things, to walk everywhere and to shower in the coldest water you can possibly think of and to only do it three times a week.
It's time to do what is hard and uncomfortable.
