Passion.
What are you passionate about?
I could name several things that I am passionate about but in this blog I’m going to talk about one particular passion of mine…. MUSIC.
I can’t play an instrument or even sing all that well but music is in my blood…. It lives in my soul. Some don’t understand and that’s okay. Not everyone’s passions or opinions are the same. It’s one of the ways I connect with Papa, He speaks so much truth and life into me through music.
“Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare His glory among the Nations.” Psalm 96:1-3
“Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to Him a psalm of praise. God reigns over the Nations.” Psalm 47:6-8
“Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of His wonderful acts.” I Chronicles 16:9
“The Lord will save me, and we will sing with stringed instruments all the day of our lives in the temple of the Lord.” Isaiah 38:20
“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!”Psalm 95:1
“With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD!” Psalm 98:6
See a pattern here? God is commanding us to SING and PLAY instruments for His GLORY! No matter how “bad” you think you sound the Lord WANTS to hear you singing or playing to Him! It is a joyful noise to Him! He LOVES it!!!
“the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with songs of joy, and with musical instruments.” 1 Samuel 18:6
“You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever!” Psalm 30:11-12
Music and dancing go hand-in-hand….. Dancing is a way to express how you feel…the music moves you. These are just a few of the verses about music, singing and dancing…. The Bible is FULL of them! I think if God has these actions in His Living Word then He means it! It doesn’t matter the “type” of music or “genre” that you prefer…. My question to you is… Does it glorify Christ? Can rap, country, hard rock, pop or screamo music glorify Christ? The answer is a very firm and huge YES!!!
