This week we have been with team Rooted. God has blessed them with incredible contacts and an abundance of ministry opportunities within Kuala Lumpur. Some of our activities have included working in the contact’s restaurant during peak business hours, attending prayer meetings, street evangelism, and teaching English at local schools.
Today was amazing. Crystal, Julie L., and myself were able to lead a sunday school class for Burmese refugee children.
We walked through the doorway of the second story classroom and were met with around 50 smiling faces ranging in age from five to fifteen and the smell of too many people packed in a small space with poor ventilation. For the next 2.5 hours we sang songs together, recited psalms and scripture, and taught from 1 Timothy about setting the example as young Christians. Before leaving we laid hands on children and prayed over the many needs in their lives…for registration to be granted for their families here in Malaysia, for miraculous healing, for family members still in Burma to be safely reunited outside the country, and for success and blessing in the childrens education and future endeavors.
The Holy Spirit glowed in that room today! I saw children facing real adversity with their eyes closed tight as they praised the God of heaven. The authenticity of their faith was inspiring and dashed any preconceived notions I’ve held about the limit to a child’s understanding of faith and God. I felt humbled by my encounter this morning, and unworthy of such a beautiful glimpse of God’s kingdom coming to earth.
