January 7th is the official day we will be leaving for our first country, Thailand. As I purchased my one-way ticket online and realized November is already coming to a close, I am both anxious and excited for the months that lie ahead. Thanks to generous and supportive family and friends, I have officially crossed the halfway mark in fundraising. I am currently at $7,300. Although I have a way to go, I am encouraged because I have already come so far. God has also blessed me with much of the gear I need to take with me for travel…we will be living out of our backpacks and tents, which has required a lot of time spent on Ebay and other sites looking for discounted items that will meet the need. My dear mom has been an amazing help in this area, putting her keen eye for a good deal to great use in finding a proper winter coat, shoes, and many other important items.
