We all did it.
Read dozens upon dozens of blog posts,
watched countless videos,
and some of us even got in contact with alumni Racers to hear about their experience.
And let's be honest, the main WR video is awesome, right?
Heal the sick,
Raise the dead,
drive out demons,
cleanse the lepers.
Come on!
Thats cool!
I want that!
I know I was like "yay manifestations of the Spirit, let's go!"
Then, there are some of you that are like
"these people are insane, what the crap am I getting myself into?
I don't wanna mess with this Holy Spirit stuff."
I'm just gonna be really honest with you.
I really haven't tangibly seen the manifestations of the Spirit very much on my Race.
I can probably count on one hand the miracles I've seen
(of course, I have a very different perspective on what miracles are, but that's another story for another time).
On the other hand, some of my fellow squadmates have seen so many things their heads are spinning.
And it hasn't been easy.
Because I came with the expectation of seeing God move in those ways,
and when it didn't happen I became frustrated.
I've wasted so much time being upset with God for not doing something.
I was so desperate to see him manifest that, one, I focused on those more than him,
and two, I limited him to only being able to move in certain ways.
On the other hand, I have a friend who finds herself uncomfortable
and unable to talk about such things, because shes way more oriented toward the Word
and bringing the straight gospel, so she's kinda skeptical with all the manifestation stuff.
So what the crap do we do?
"God is spirit, and those who worship must worship in spirit AND truth." -John 4:24
We do both.
It's what we are commanded to do.
But how easy is it to focus on one or the other?
I came onto the Race guns blazing,
woo-hooing all over the place like "yay God, let's bring that fire!"
Which isn't necessarily a bad thing,
unless we're magnifying it above him.
And I was.
To live our lives only focused on one and not the other is to idolize that thing over what were called to.
The truth is that theres a happy medium between the two.
Another hard truth is that a lot of times,
were not presented with a good representation of what both look like when operating together.
Its either all Spirit and no truth,
or it's all truth and no Spirit.
And so, future World Racers,
I say these things to save you from a lot of struggle.
Just be open.
Drop your expectations of what you want training camp or your Race to look like.
And be comfortable with the place that you're in.
Don't worry about what everyone else is doing or experiencing,
Just worry about you, and ask Holy Spirit to teach you how to walk in Spirit and truth.
Oh, and btw,
this is a lesson you'll continue to learn for the rest of your life 🙂
Love you guys!
If you need anything, hit me up!
Peace and blessings,
Courtney
