Secrets.
We've all got them.
And society promotes it.
We don't dare talk about the sick stuff,
because its just too risky.
And so we sit, stuck in our mess and silent,
terrified of what people would think if they saw who we really were.
If they saw what went on behind closed doors.
I walked in this for so long.
I thought it was the safer option.
Even though I was miserable and alone,
at least it eliminated the possibility of being hurt by the judgement of others.
Hiddenness is where Satan lives.
If he can get you to stay silent about the things that keep you up at night;
the things that cripple you and suck the life out of you,
then he's won.
But here's the best news:
There's an anecdote.
It's called exposure.
To some of you this might sound terrifying.
But take it from someone who's been there-
It's 100% worth it.
It always seems like the scariest thing you could possibly do at the time,
but I'm living proof that there is crazy freedom in unveiling secrets.
And the freedom never stops.
When you open the door and reveal the hidden things in your life,
you provide others the space to do the same.
We were made to shine.
"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not understood it."
