Cause we’re half way there
livin’ on a prayer
and it’s now or never
cause I ain’t gonna live forever
I don’t wanna be another wave in the ocean
I am a rock not just another grain of sand
I wanna be the one you run to when you need a shoulder
I ain’t a soldier but I’m here to take a stand
because we can
Every day I pray for numerous things, but a continuous thing I pray for is a better world. I pray for the starving throughout the nations to be fed, for the dying to be healed, for the dark to see light, for the wrecked to be loved, and for our world to see a happier tomorrow. We can all pray and we can all hope and that is fantastic, but that’s only the first step. Yes, God is the one who fixes it all but he does it through us. Therefor, if we don’t go out into the world ourselves, how will anything be solved? In Mark 16:15 he tells us to go, “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.””
At one point in time we’ve all played Simon says and when Simon said to pat our heads, we did so without blinking. So why is it when Our Creator says, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation” do we simply memorize that verse?
We’re half way there already, Livin’ on a prayer….so why not go all the way and help live out the prayer?
A lot of people say they want to go on a mission trip. They want to travel and help the world, BUT they don’t have time right now so they’ll do it later. However, what if there isn’t a later? We don’t live forever. All we have is the now and so the way I look at it, is that it’s now or never.
All of my friends are going off to college next year. A lot of them I’ve known since I was younger. We played a sport together, or we graduated grade school together, or we raced down the slides as toddlers. Whatever it was we always did it at the same time and then together, as a generation, simply an age group in time, we moved onto the next step of life.
Growing up is in a way kind of like being a robot. We do everything because we have to (not that it isn’t fun and I don’t cherish my past memories), and we all conform to the norms of society. However, now I get to choose what I do and I don’t wanna be another wave in the ocean. I don’t want to conform to society, I don’t want to graduate high school and go straight to college after. I want to make a difference because we can!
Until the next post,
Love & Blessings,
Court!
