I promised this post a long time ago and here it is!

If you don’t remember, last month one of the big projects we were able to help The Starfish Foundation with was compiling quotes and photos for the Humans of Starfish that will feature kids at the foundation on their blog. Those will be appearing soon (you can follow their blog here) but I wanted to give you a preview!

(Blogs about our Peru ministry – particularly this past Tuesday and Wednesday – are coming next!)

“When I’m older I want to be a civil engineer so for this profession it’s good that I like Physics because it will help with my career. Civil engineering is about creating things. I want to design things like shopping centers and houses. I would love to be able to travel to other countries to see how they build malls and develop buildings.” – Lucy, age 15 (pictured at right)

“In school I am motivated by my parents. My dad didn’t go to high school or college. My mom did, but not my dad. They want me to be a person who understands things. They want me to be a person who excels for myself and helps my country.” – Maria, age 13

“If I could give any advice to someone who is younger than me it would be to finish school. If you do not get an education you cannot defend yourself in life.” – Diego, age 17

“I want to be a reporter because I really like TV and how the news tells people information. In school we are learning a lot about speaking, points of view and the news. I think the most difficult part of being a reporter would be learning other languages. If I was picked to be a reporter that travels to other countries I would have to learn different languages. The easiest thing I think would be being in front of a camera.” – Joselyn, age 14 (at right)

“My mom inspires me because she always gives me good advice and makes sure I’m not around bad people.” – Daniela, age 9

“The bravest thing I have done in my life thus far is defend my sister when another kid hit her.” – Ronald, age 12

For more interviews, including that of my host brother David, check out my teammate Morgan’s post (she’s still fundraising, by the way!).
