Hello from Atlanta! Today is our last day of training before we officially embark and become World Racers. Tomorrow will be our last day in the United States for 11 months (unless we end up with a U.S. layover between Malaysia and Ecuador).
I think it’s finally sunk in that this is really happening!
I had a lot of mixed emotions while I was packing (and panicking a little, I will admit), but now that I’ve been reunited with my squad, I am back to pure excitement!
But now, the song. Last night, we had a wonderful worship session which ended with this song. It’s one that I actually know pretty well, but when we got to the chorus I was kind of taken aback on two counts.
You make me brave
You make me brave
You call me out beyond the shore into the waves
First, my team is Team Intrepid, because we want to be bold in our adventuring and fearless in our love. I need to remember that it’s God who is making me brave for this journey, because I’m not going to be able to replenish that bravery without him. And secondly, it reminded me of my last blog post. We have been called out from the shore, our safe beach, into the waves, where it could get rocky.
(Let me tell you, the ocean metaphors have been everywhere, at Training Camp and at Launch.)
Right now, the waves are nice and gentle, waiting for us to dive in. We know a little more now about what’s coming – we have an itinerary, a city, a ministry, a place to stay! I’ll share more about all those once we’re actually in Albania in just a few days.
