Last month in Malaysia my team, Sweet Aroma, received some awesome tips on how to share our faith.  Our contact was amazing!  He and his family have been living in Malaysia for quite a few years, building relationships with the Malay bringing the Good News to them!  He gave us a few steps and helped us practice and left the rest up to the Holy Spirit!  Here’s a quick overview, you can use it anywhere anytime!

  1. Get connected.  Say hi, smile, start talking!
  2. Get to the heart.  Take it deeper.  Find out some struggles in their life and challenges
  3. Get them lost.  Help them to see their need for Jesus.  To see that they have sin that needs to be taken care of.  That nothing, but Jesus’ blood can cover that.  See how they feel they are doing? Are they good enough when final judgment day comes??
  4. Get them the Gospel.  Express how Jesus has worked in your own life!  How much He loves them!  How he takes our dirty hearts and gives us clean hearts!
  5. Get a response.  See if they have questions.  Find out what they are thinking? Do they want to know more? Do they want to receive His free gift of salvation?  Are they not interested?

So our main ministry was to go out and see who was interested in hearing more about Jesus!  Just getting out there and looking to talk to people, softened my heart toward others.  Hearing their stories, trying to understand what they believe led to some cool friendships! Here’s just one of the many stories!
I went out last month to visit a team to see how they were doing.  I went exploring for wifi the next morning and heard McD’s had it so I took off.  It was about a 20 minute walk and I passed a flower stand and said a quick hello.  Then next day we walked back to get wifi and I stopped to buy a flower and try to get connected!  We talked briefly; husband wife and their 3 adorable kids were super sweet!  I took the flower and prayed, ok who am I going to give this to?  When I got to McDs I found one of the few outlets and sat down.  Pretty soon after a girl came in and asked if I could plug her computer in!  We sat and talked for about 20 minutes or more and decided to meet up the next day!  Her friends came in and I passed the flower on to them!

The next day we walked to McDs again and of course stopped off at the flower stand.  We got talking more and the man there also ran a transportation business that the team I was visiting was able to use twice!  It was a great relationship built there.  You never know where God takes these divine encounters! Later that afternoon we met at Tutti Frutti with Shequin and her friends and just had fun talking!  We then moved on for some authentic dinner and it was a great time!  We got to express why we were there and what we believed!  They also shared.  I hope to continue the relationship via facebook!!  This was one of my highlights this month, meeting Shequin and her friends and getting to know them a bit.  Who knows how God is going to work.
I really have to let go and let God.  He is in the details.  He is the one who moves in the hearts of people not me.  All I can do is get connected and try and bring some GOOD NEWS!  Jesus saves!
