Are you a slave or are you free? Before I begin to tell you more of what’s happening through our team, let me give you a history lesson about Guatemala. From 1960-1996 there was civil war between the Mayans and the Guatemalan government. The Guatemalan government massacred the Mayan cities, towns and villages. The people my team and I are living around are mostly Mayans which were the ones that were conquered. After the war, the Guatemalan government made a treaty with the Mayans that was never lived up to. This created a class system that is very prevalent and can still be seen today, even by us Americans. It goes from wealthiest to poorest in this order-Foreigners, Spaniards, Mayans, Mayan women, Widows and Orphans. The town we are living in is called Xenacoj. Xenacoj means “Under the roar of the lions”. It’s called this because about two hundred years ago before the Spaniards came the town of Xenacoj was just a little village and at night you could hear the roar of the mountain lions resonate throughout the hills. As beautiful as the name of the town is or how beautiful the town is there is more to it than meets the eye. There is a demonic presence on this town. My team and I felt it only a few days after arrival. We talked to Thomas, a permanent Guatemalan missionary and he said Xenacoj has many evil strongholds. Drunkenness is everywhere we look, dancing is seen as demonic and from the devil. Drugs, huffing paint, lack of work, whatever the reason the enemy has been in this town for quite some time. The people of Xenacoj are slaves to evil, mediocracy and the failure to know who Jesus really is. In the name of JESUS my team has been declaring the HOLY SPIRIT to FLOOD this place. My dear friend on my team was having nightmares… Through prayer, Jesus fixed that. The devil is not welcome in this place. As far as Xenacoj, my team and I have been praying over it and the people. We are declaring and commanding with God at our side that the enemy is not welcome in this place. Every time the Devil reminds my team and I of our past and failures, we remind him of his future. The war we are fighting has already been won. We are sent to be a light in this dark place. We are in a war ladies and gentleman. Get out of your church pews and chairs. We need to declare to the enemy that we are sons and daughters of the most high KING. Whom shall we fear, whom shall we be afraid? Pray that this fire to declare the goodness of the Lord will not be extinguished, pray that when people see me or your son or daughter that they do not see us…Pray that they see Jesus. Pray that we walk with the Holy Spirit flowing out of us like a current in a powerful river. Let it wash over them, with love and forgiveness from God. We believe in the power and gifts from God. God says to go and do greater things than he has. Tomorrow we get to witness a miracle. For the first time in history we are being sent out to give Bibles to the Ketchekel people. For the first time in history the Bible has been translated to these peoples native tongue. Pray that hearts are ready to be changed. Pray the seeds we plant will grow and that someone will be able to water them. Who are you? What is your relationship with Christ? Are you a lukewarm Christian or are you all in? Are you sold out? These are the questions I ask you because if you are a believer, God has called us to a higher standard. It’s time to wake up and embrace the love and power God has instilled inside of us. Whether it’s at work, at home, ordering a burger and fries or sitting at home watching TV. WE are missionaries… Not for nine months, but until the day we breathe our last breath on this Earth. Just like a cup of coffee, we want it hot and fresh. No one wants lukewarm coffee. Jesus does not want lukewarm relationships. If you haven’t sold out, it’s time. God is good and he is here with my team and I and he is with you right now. Be still and listen, you will find he’s been calling you to more for a long time. Dios Le Bendiga, God Bless You, Cole Bryan McCrary
