In the last few days of our stay in Nepal we were given a day to ask the lord and do whatever we felt called to do. My team ended up going downtown to visit shops and have a team day/do street ministry. After walking around for several hours the time came to head back to the house. We split up into two groups in order to fit in the taxis. We secured our taxi and right off the bat this was a different experience than we usually had. There was no haggling, not even once. The driver took the first price I asked for and we were on our way. As we went through the streets of Kathmandu to the other side of town I began talking with the driver and the conversation quickly turned to religion. I asked what he believed and he like many others in the area stated that he believed in all the gods. I asked what his prayer life looked like and he explained that he starts off praying to Buddha then Mohammed then Jesus and so on. I then asked if he had read all the holy books and what he knew Jesus’s story to be. He reviled that he didn’t know how to read and only knew about Jesus what he could gather from pictures. He had never heard the full story of Christ. So of coarse the next question was “would you like to hear it?” To which he answered yes. I then spent the rest of the taxi ride telling this man about Christ and his love for us and what he did for us. We pulled up to the house and my final question asked ” would you like to receive Christ as your savior?” His answer…. Yes. Thank God for devine meetings with taxi drivers.
And all this happened in the midst of one of the biggest natural disasters nepal has seen in our lifetimes. God never stops, no matter what.
