Howdy,
A big question that i’ve been getting a lot is why are you going on the World Race? Whats your reason?
It tough to answer because there’s not just one, so here they are.
1. To answer Gods call. I’ve always felt a desire and a passion for mission work. After going on several trips to New Orleans and Galveston after disasters and seeing how God works in the midst of such tragedy is an awe inspiring thing. The ability of God to take what has been destroyed and turn it to good and to His purpose is an awesome thing to witness and a humbling thing to be apart of. That He would use me to touch another life is one of the greatest honors bestowed upon a man in his lifetime.
2. As an offering. I am about to make the transition from a Project Manager in the Commercial Construction Industry to fulfilling the long term purpose God has called me to which is to become a Firefighter/Paramedic, but before diving into the Firefighting occupation for the next 30 years i’m going to give an offering of my time. One year dedicated to the sole purpose of building the kingdom and drawing closer to God.
3. To create opportunity. I didn’t realize this reason until starting the task of fundraising, but this journey is not just for me. This is an opportunity for people to give and contribute to something they believe in and watch their sacrifice be utilized by God through the journeys of the World Race. I am not going as just Cole Bruner. I’m going as an ambassador of every person who supports this mission along the way. This is not just my mission and calling, its yours. I just get the privilege of being your physical representation of Gods love in the world.
4. To further prepare. At the beginning of my training as a paramedic, our medical director came to our class to tell us “There is no higher calling than to save another mans life, or to take his pain away.” He also told us to never forget to include compassion in our care of patients. “To take the knowledge from our mind, pass it through our hearts to pick up compassion, and finally to our trained and skilled hands.” Over the past 2 years i’ve worked diligently to obtain the knowledge and skills required to become a paramedic. The final piece to become the full and complete paramedic which God has called me is to sharpen the compassion of my heart.
So here we go.
-Cole
